‘Souvenir Of England‘ is a theatre production, conceived and performed by Marianne Dissard (with whom I also collaborated on a series of cover versions during 2020 & ’21, which are collected together on the 2022 album, Rappel). Marianne’s show was inspired by Joanna Hogg‘s feature film, The Souvenir, Part 1, and she commissioned me to create a soundtrack based around songs that appear in the film…

I recorded instrumental tracks for her to use on stage, and we liked them enough that we thought we should add vocals and other parts that would have been performed live, in order to create a kind of soundtrack album…

Marianne’s street photography is also part of her production, and I edited together collages of her photos (all taken in Knightsbridge, London), to serve as videos for a couple of the songs…
